Help us put food on the table in Central Texas!!
All of you out there who call and email — well, all I can say is that you are all the most amazing and caring folks I’ve ever had the pleasure to meet!
We lowered the cost of our admissions this year, in place of the $1.00 off "coupon" we did last season. We know everybody’s trying to save money and still have some kind of a lifestyle these days! I was afraid you guys would be upset with us over this, and I worried about it.
Instead — you have all rallied around and said, "Hey, that’s cool — we’ll bring food ANYWAY!"
Here I go again, tears and mascara, just thinking about how supportive y’all are! As our uncertain economy swirls around us today in the shadow of bail outs and elections — lets ban together! Lets have a little fun, blow off a little stress, laugh, linger in the autumn sun, thump happy, round pumpkins, get a little dusty and just play– I sit here thinking of an adorable little round-faced boy last weekend who peered over the ticket booth counter up at me; with a loud thud he plunked his canned food item down and loudly said, "I brought the pineapple! Where can I go play?"
So, come on everybody — we donated 421 pounds of food last year — bring your cans and come play all season long and lets see if we can set a new record this year!
Food for Families is a loose-knit coalition of food pantries working together to feed the hungry people of Central Texas; and is an annual event for the Boy Scouts of America, H.E.B. Grocery Company , Texas Army National Guard and KWTX -TV. The food drive takes place each year the Friday before Thanksgiving, with collection sites throughout Central Texas.

Last year, Central Texans donated more than a million pounds of food, and organizers are hoping to top the total this year.
So, with that in mind; on behalf of our family and staff at Kaska Family Farm, we’d like to request that you bring a new, unopened, non-perishable food item this year!
Items to consider include canned meat, tuna, vegetables, macaroni, spaghetti, pinto beans, corn, green beans, applesauce, tomato sauce, peanut butter, vegetable soup, chicken soup, cereal and Jello.
